A. Death of umpire Shaukat in league attack, post of Nafis expressing grief

Sports Desk: Umpire Shaukat Ali Didar was killed in an attack by Awami League in Gopalganj. He was the first class umpire of BCB. Shaukat was also the Sports Secretary of the Central Committee of the Volunteer Party.

BCB cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafis expressed grief over the death of this umpire. He wrote, 'I am deeply saddened by the death of first class umpire Shaukat Ali Didar. '

The 43-year-old veteran umpire had officiated in various BCB competitions for two decades. He breathed his last on Friday. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family.'

The attack took place at Ghonapara junction on the way to SM Jilani's house Tungipara after the road meeting organized by the district BNP at Bedgram junction in the district town at around 5 pm on Friday (September 13). This killed Shaukat. His family and BNP workers allege that he died in an attack by Awami League workers.
