Jumbangla Desk: The World Bank will provide one billion or one billion US dollar loan assistance to reform the country's banking and financial sector and strengthen the central bank. And for this, the organization has set three conditions to Bangladesh Bank. Members of the World Bank delegation set these conditions during a meeting with Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansoor on Sunday (September 15).

At that time, some senior officials of Bangladesh Bank were present. World Bank Prosperity Practice Group Regional Director Matthew A. Varghese led the delegation. The organization's country director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, Abdulaye Sek, also participated in the meeting.

It is known that the World Bank will provide 100 million dollar loan assistance to Bangladesh for financial sector reform. Of this, $750 million will be provided as part of policy support and $250 million in loans for investment.


Apart from this, another 15 million dollars is expected to be given as a guarantee facility. This loan is expected to be approved by the World Bank board by next December.

Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide 150 million dollars for the reform of the banking sector. The first installment of $500 million will come in March next year.
