Jumbangla Desk: Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government, many people are not going to India because of the complications related to India's visa and the fear of harassment or detention at the airport. The passenger crisis is so acute that recently a private airlines flight flew to Kolkata with only 12 passengers. Finally, the drought stopped the flights of NovoAir to India.

The airline's Dhaka to Kolkata flight will be suspended indefinitely from Monday (September 16).
The company had 7 flights a week to India. About 2 thousand 100 passengers used to travel on Dhaka-Kolkata route in this flight alone. Although the number of flights was reduced to 3 from last month, even half of the passengers were not available.
Same situation in Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Earlier Kolkata operated 14 flights a week on the route. Currently this number is down to seven. Apart from this, the number of flights on Chennai and Delhi route has decreased.
Bashra Islam, general manager of the public relations department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines said that 40 to 48 percent of capacity passengers are available on Dhaka to Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi routes.
Many are claiming that India is giving less visas. Many people are not going even if they have a visa due to stricter regulations at the airport. They are not getting even half of the capacity passengers.
Mesbah-ul Islam, head of marketing and sales of NovoAir, said that one flight was operated every day. Due to low number of passengers we reduce to 3 flights per week in between. Now passengers have decreased completely. Therefore, in this situation, I am forced to stop the flight for the time being.

He said that if the operational cost of the flight is not raised, the flight cannot be run. He said that if the situation is good, if the visa issue is normal, he will consider the flight operation again.
