Jumbangla Desk: More than half a hundred people were injured in a clash between two sides over the occupation of the Jalmahal in Sunamganj's Dirai. The clash took place on Monday (September 16) at noon in Badalpur village of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, there was tension between former UP member Sijil Mia and Farooq Mia of the same village over the possession of a small water tower near the village for several days. In view of that, today when the people of both sides went to occupy the Jalmahal together, there was an argument. At one point, both sides clashed with indigenous weapons. Later, the police reached the spot and calmed down the situation.
However, more than half a hundred people from both sides were injured during the clash. The injured are being treated at Dirai, Sunamganj Hospital.
Ikhtiar Uddin Chowdhury, OC of Dirai police station, said that the people of Badalpur village got involved in the conflict over the occupation of Jalamhal. No one was killed in this incident. However, more than half a hundred were injured.
