The arrested person has been identified as Sanjit Biswas (45). He is the son of Nishi Kant Biswas of Nadia district, India. He has been sent to jail by the court on Monday.

Earlier on Saturday, the temple committee lodged a written complaint with the Banga police station after seeing the finger of Kartik Thakur of Hari Mandir in Bhanga Bazar, the throat of peacock twisted, the ear and finger of horse, the finger of Asura and the finger and trunk of Ganesha of Kali Mandir were broken.


Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police said that during the investigation of the incident, one person was found sleeping on an abandoned cot in front of the Kali temple and another on the ground next to the cot. On questioning, one person (an elderly person) was identified as known by the locals.

When the other person was asked for his name and identity, if he did not give his name and identity, he was brought to the police station for questioning because of suspicion. At this time he spoke once in Bengali and once in Hindi. At one point, the person introduced himself as an Indian citizen. He also said that the arrested Sanjit Biswas has been sent to the court under section 151. The investigation related to this incident continues.
