This ancient gold coin was bought by a Danish citizen. However, the buyer has kept his identity a secret.
Experts believe that this coin of 1496 is the oldest and most expensive coin in Scandinavia.
The coin was in the collection of a businessman. He had a total of 20,000 coins. This coin was sold in the first auction from that huge collection.
The businessman died in 1923. Before his death, he wrote in his will that his collected coins could not be sold for at least 100 years. The National Museum of Denmark kept some of the coins on deposit with them. However, the museum authorities had the right to first buy some coins before auctioning them.
So far, the museum authorities have bought seven coins from among them. However, this is the first time that the coins in the collection of the businessman have gone into the ownership of a private collector.

A total of 286 coins were sold at auction as of last Saturday, with a total value of 14.8 million euros, auction authorities said. It is estimated that it will take about five years to sell the entire collection of coins. The sale of these coins is expected to generate approximately half a billion Danish kroner.
