Jumbangla Desk: In front of Jhumjhumpur Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad, a century-old traditional banyan tree has been uprooted due to continuous heavy rains for three days.

The tree fell on the Jessore-Narail highway around 9 am on Monday (September 16). Four shops on the side of the road were damaged. However, there were no casualties.


Meanwhile, all kinds of traffic was stopped on the Jessore Narail highway for about one and a half hours from 9 am on this day due to this big tree falling on the road. Fire service personnel came and removed the tree from the road after receiving information about the incident. Later, from 10:30 am, traffic on the Jessore-Narail highway became normal.


Delwar Hossain, the present official of Jessore Fire Service Civil Defense, said that the tree was uprooted from the root on the road as the root of the tree became soft due to heavy rain. Traffic was blocked for one and a half hours. Later, around 10:30 am, when the tree was removed, vehicular movement became normal.


He also said that four shops including a salon shop, a tea shop, a homeopathic medicine shop were damaged under the tree as the tree was uprooted on the road. However, no one was injured in this incident.
