We have prepared ourselves for a long-term war, Yahya Sinwar, who succeeded Hamas chief Ismail Haniya, who was killed last month, said in a letter to Yemen's allies.
Yahya Sinwar said, along with other allies supported by Iran in Gaza and the Middle East, the political morale of the enemy will be broken. These allies also include members of armed groups in Lebanon and Iraq.
In the letter addressed to the Houthi rebels, he said, "You and we together with the groups in Lebanon and Iraq will break the morale of these enemies and defeat them."
Earlier, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan told AFP news agency that a new generation of members is being recruited to replace the dead Hamas fighters. They have a high capacity to continue fighting despite the damage. However, Israeli Defense Minister Yav Galant said last week that Hamas does not exist as a military group in Gaza.
On October 7, Hamas entered southern Israel and carried out an unprecedented attack, killing 1,200 Israelis and capturing about 250 Israelis and foreign citizens in Gaza. Israel has been bombing Gaza indiscriminately since the same day it declared war on Hamas. In the meantime, more than 41,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in their attacks.
A seven-day ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was brokered by Qatar and Egypt last November. Hamas also released hundreds of Israeli prisoners as part of the deal. But they still have hundreds of Israeli prisoners in their hands.
