Own Correspondent, Gazipur: The body of a woman garment worker named Rahela Akhter (25) with a veil wrapped around her neck was recovered in Sreepur, Gazipur. The victim's husband Sujan Mia (35) has been absconding since the incident .

Deputy Inspector (SI) Ahiduzzaman of Sripur police station confirmed the matter on Monday (September 16) afternoon. Before this, the body was recovered from the rented house of Mulaid village of Telihati union of the upazila on Sunday night (September 15).

Deceased Rahela Akhtar is the daughter of Rumali of Zakatkunni village of Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona district. He used to work in a local garment factory called Blue Plant from the house of Badal Mia in Mulaid village. The name of the absconding husband is Sujan Miah, a resident of Vallakanda upazila of Mymensingh district.

SI said, the body was recovered and sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The relatives of the deceased have been informed that further legal action will be taken based on their written complaint. Efforts are on to arrest the husband.

Mohsin Ali, a local resident, said that five days ago, Rahela and her husband rented the house of Badal Mia in Mulaid village. Rachel worked in a garment factory. Sometime on Sunday, Rahela was strangled to death by wrapping a veil around her neck. Later he left the body on the bed and ran away. At night, the people of the house found Rachel's body and informed the police. He was strangulated to death due to a family dispute.
