Jumbangla Desk: The house of scientific officer Mala Khan, who came under discussion for a specially made secret room inside his office, is in Bhuyapur of Tangail. He is the Chief Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements (BRICM).

Eat the garland

Mala Khan claimed that the rumored secret room in his office was not actually secret. Everyone in that office knew about this.

Mala Khan is the daughter of Abul Fazal Khan of Nikla Mahabat (Ghainanjani) village of Alloa Union of Bhuyapur Upazila of Tangail. Due to his father's job, he studied and grew up in Dhaka. Mala Khan used to buy land and sell cattle and goats in the area through his uncle Tofazzal Khan, a cattle trader. He also gave government and private jobs to some people of the area.

Locals were surprised to see the news of a secret room in his office recently.

On the surface, it was revealed that BRICM Chief Scientific Officer Mala Khan's three daughters are studying in Canada. Her husband Mustafa Anwar was also a scientific officer. Currently she lives in Canada with her two daughters. However, there are rumors that she has bought a house in Canada for her husband and daughters.

In the Basila area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka, there are domestic and foreign breeds of cows and goats. His own younger brother was managing that farm. Besides, he has his place and home in Basila. Cows and goats were bought from various parts of the district including Tangail through Uncle Tofazzal Khan and fattened in the farm. Then they were brought to Tangail along with the farms and sold through uncle and various people of Dhaka.

After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on August 5, many people took cows and goats from that farm in Basila. He bought 59 percent of the land in the area through his uncle. Mala Khan has also given employment to several local people in BRICM. They are now working there in various capacities.

Mala Khan has been accused of forging a PhD degree certificate. On February 8, 2015, news was published in a national daily. The news headlined "Mala Khan got the garland of forgery" and mentioned that Mala Khan was appointed as a non-scientific officer despite getting the lowest marks in the recruitment test (written) with a fake certificate. It also says that Mala Khan obtained his Ph.D. degree through fraud. And the co-supervisor of that PhD course was her husband Mustafa Anwar. The university from which he obtained his PhD degree is not accredited by the institution. The bogus institution gave the certificate of PhD in exchange of money.

Many people from Nikla area said that Mala Khan gave jobs to many people in the area who were unemployed. But no one could say whether it was given in exchange of money. Besides, his uncle used to help Tofazzal with money in the area. His uncle is the lessee of Bhuyapur Sialkol Hut. Uncle bought him land in the area.

Sohan of Ghainanjani village of Alloa Union, who got a job in BRICM, said that he has come to know that his brother has run a cow and goat farm on lease in Keraniganj. But I don't know if it was in Basila. After August 5, the people of the office who opposed had the keys of the office. Where madam had no illegal activities. Cows and goats were brought to BRICM office for sale. He left the farm due to trouble. As a result cows and goats were brought to the office. From there I took two cows and two ram goats. He has no property in Dhaka. Madam lived in quarters with her father, brother, brother's wife. .

Mala Khan's uncle Tofazzal Khan said, I was surprised to see Mala Khan's incident. My niece is an honest scientific officer. The office people are against him. There are various complaints including having a mirror in his office. His brother's farm was in Basila. Before the movement, I brought a truckload of cows and sold them at various markets in Tangail. I bought some land in the area. But later I bought that land.

Uncle Tofazzal Khan spoke on the phone with Mala Khan, Chief Scientific Officer of BRICM.

He said, the incident is completely fabricated. After August 5, I did not go to the office for a few days. Meanwhile, they have accused me, created false facts. They have filed a complaint against me with the ministry. Nothing legal can be done about the false incident without the permission of higher authorities.

Arang is giving jobs, there is no age limit

Mala Khan said, I worked for a few days after the fall of the government. The office people already knew about that room. But now it is promoting it under the name 'Secret Room'. Mainly arranged such a drama to defame me. Source: Dhaka Post
