Sylhet Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Anjan Kanti granted his bail on Tuesday (September 17) morning. However, as there are cases against him in other parts of the country, he was ordered to be sent to prison.
Confirming the matter, Sylhet Court Inspector Jamsed Alam told the media that former Justice Manik was brought to the court under tight security before the court proceedings started to show the arrest in the Kanighat case. At that time, when his lawyer applied for bail in this case, the court ordered bail.
Earlier, BGB arrested Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik while fleeing to India through the Dona border of Kanighat upazila on the night of August 23. He was handed over to the Kanighat police station on Saturday morning (August 24). Sylhet Senior Judicial Magistrate-1 Alamgir Hossain ordered to send him to jail when he was brought to court that afternoon showing his arrest under section 54.
While entering the court that day, the angry crowd in the court premises killed Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik. The impact caused severe damage to his testicles.
