Jumbangla Desk: Former Additional IGP Monirul Islam said that he is in hiding due to the fear of militants. He said this in a special interview given to Channel 24 on Tuesday (September 17).

Monirul Islam claimed that he was not involved in the July massacre. He will voluntarily surrender if he can prove the charges brought against him including the murder case.

The news came in the media that Sheikh Hasina had brought Tk 25 crore to the SB office on August 4 to protest. After that he looted only a few loyal ones. But Monirul denied it.

On the other hand, the former senior police officer also claimed that the anti-discrimination student movement cannot be suppressed by force as several reports were given to the government from the SB.

Monirul Islam has been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government in the popular uprising of the students. There are allegations against him that he was behind the factionalization of the police as a force during Sheikh Hasina's tenure. In the meantime, he has also been accused in several cases of July-August murders.

Former Additional IGP Monirul Islam said that the future situation will be dealt with legally.
