After noon last Sunday, Donald Trump accompanied real estate businessman Steve Witkoff to the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

While at the club, one of the members of the Secret Service who was in charge of Trump's security found the barrel of a gun in the bushes near the field. Trump was immediately taken to safety by members of the Secret Service. Speaking about the assassination attempt Monday night, Trump said he heard "probably four or five" gunshots at close range.

Federal investigators said a member of the Secret Service fired at the suspected gunman, who was 300 to 500 yards away. From where the gunman was, Trump did not have a clear view.

"Secret Service members grabbed me for gunshots," Trump said live on social media X (formerly Twitter) from the Mar-a-Lago resort.

Trump also said, "We moved safely by car. My security personnel did an excellent job.”

Investigators said the gunman did not fire any shots. He was hiding behind the bushes and tall palm trees next to the golf course.

Federal officials said the gunman had been there since 1:59 a.m. Sunday, according to cellphone records. And a member of the Secret Service detected his whereabouts at 1:31 p.m.

The man was carrying two digital cameras, a black plastic food bag and a semi-automatic gun. The gun can be fired about 440 yards.

Florida residents say Trump spends most Sundays at the golf club when he's not busy campaigning.

Secret Service Director Ronald Roe said, “Trump was not supposed to be on the golf course on Sunday. So they have to make a last minute security plan for him.”

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Trump was not supposed to go golfing, but how did the gunman know that he was coming there that day or was his arrival coincidental with the gunman's guess? How the suspect was hiding in the bush with the gun for so long has also been questioned.

Secret Service agents found the barrel of a gun inside the bush and fired four shots. The man then dropped the gun and ran away.

U.S. officials also said a witness took pictures of the gunman's car and license plate. Vehicle information was later forwarded to various agencies in Florida. Based on that information, the car was stopped in the nearby Martin area. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Ruth (58), was arrested.

Ryan Ruth appeared in a crowded Palm Beach court yesterday. He spoke to his lawyer in court. He was also seen smiling at this time. Initially, two charges were brought against him. More charges may be filed later.

According to the New York Times, the accused Ruth's home is in North Carolina. He was once a construction worker. He has no experience of serving in the military. But more than once he tried to take part in the armed struggle. Especially after Russia started military operations in Ukraine in 2022, he showed interest in going to Ukraine to participate in this war.

In a post on X, Wesley Ruth also expressed his willingness to participate in the Ukraine war and sacrifice his life if needed. In the post, he wrote, 'I want to go to Ukraine and volunteer to fight. I will give my life if necessary.'
