International Desk: Due to non-export of hilsa from Bangladesh to India during Durga Puja this year, hilsa prices have increased in Kolkata and Delhi. Padma hilsa is being sold at Rs 3,500 per kg in the Kolkata market, which is around Rs 5,000 in Bangladeshi currency. Prices are a bit lower in Delhi, where the market is selling for Rs 3,000, which is more than Rs 4,000 in Bangladeshi currency. This information is known from a report of the Indian media Times of India.

A wholesale fish seller in Kolkata's famous Gariahat market said on condition of anonymity that fish is coming to India illegally through secret channels. Now due to demand the price is a bit higher. He also said that the price will be reduced after a month after the festival ends.

Previously, hilsa was sold at Rs 1,200 to 1,500 per kg in Kolkata and Delhi. However, after the ban on exports from Bangladesh, the prices there are skyrocketing.

Amita Mukherjee, a resident of Kolkata, said that she bought hilsa for 3,500 rupees. Because at this time everyone in the house wants to eat hilsa. But because the price is high, they are in trouble.
