Jumbangla Desk: Sanjit Biswas' house arrested in Faridpur idol vandalism case is not in India but in Gopalganj. He left home in pride and went to India and later returned. Currently he is mentally unstable. This is what the Faridpur district police said.

Faridpur District Police informed this information in a press release on Tuesday. It was informed that his family contacted the Faridpur district police from Gopalganj. The family says Sanjit went to India but is not an Indian citizen.


Earlier, the district police had announced the arrest of an Indian citizen in connection with the vandalism of idols in Hari Mandir and Kali Mandir in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur. A day later, the police said that the arrested person is not an Indian citizen, he is a Bangladeshi citizen and mentally unstable.


Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police Shailen Chakma said, 'When the press release issued by us on September 16 regarding the vandalism of the idols of Hari Mandir and Kali Mandir in Bhangar was published in various media, the father of Sanjit Biswas (45) Nishikant Biswas (72) contacted the Faridpur District Police and said that, The arrested person is his son. His real name is Sanjit Biswas (45), Father-Nishikant Biswas, Sang-Nizamkandi, Thana-Kashiani, District-Gopalganj.


'His father also said that his son Sanjit Biswas (45) is mentally ill, aged around 24/25 years went to India for a long time for work, later returned home. Then about 4 years ago he left home and disappeared, never returned home and has no contact with his family. He used to travel to India often," said Additional Superintendent of Police.


The district police officer also said that the person arrested on suspicion of idol vandalism is now in jail through the court.

Sometime last Saturday night, the temple committee lodged a written complaint with the Bhanga police station after seeing the finger of Kartik Tagore of Hari Mandir in Bhanga Bazar, the neck of peacock twisted, the ear and finger of horse, the finger of Asura and the finger and trunk of Ganesha of Kali Mandir were broken. Later, Sanjit Biswas was arrested from there.
