Jumbangla Desk: Two youths were injured in the shooting of miscreants for protesting the harassment of a young woman in Faridpur's Alfadanga.
They were shot at Swapnanagar area of Gopalpur union of the upazila around 2 pm on Tuesday (September 17). Police have detained one person for questioning in this incident.
The shot victims are Hafizur Rahman (22) son of Mofidul Rahman of Kuchiagram of Alfadanga upazila and Khairul Islam (24) son of Mahfuz Fakir of Gopalpur village.
According to the police and locals, a young man went for a walk with his girlfriend in Swapnanagar this afternoon. At that time, six-seven miscreants in that area harassed the young woman brought for a visit. At one stage, the girl's friend had a conversation with the scoundrels. Later the girl's friend called some of his acquaintances. At that time, the scoundrels shot at them and ran away. Two youths were shot. They were rescued and admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur.
Alfadanga upazila health complex doctor on duty. Alvi Ahmed Reza said, 'Two young men were brought to the hospital with bullet wounds. They have been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital after primary treatment.
According to police sources, local residents arrested a young man named Samiul Islam alias Opie (18) in this incident. He is a resident of Chardanga village of Togarband union of the upazila. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and arrested Samiul Islam and brought him to the police station.
