Jumbangla Desk: The effect of low pressure from the coast has passed since last Sunday (September 15) evening. Coastal skies will be sunny Monday through Tuesday afternoon. From last Saturday (September 7) to Monday (September 16) for 10 consecutive days, the coastal fishermen spent idle time at the wharf as the sea was rough under the influence of monsoon winds and low pressure. Between late Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, thousands of offshore fishing trawlers moved into the deep sea in search of hilsa.

On Tuesday (September 17) morning, going to the Mahipur-Alipur fishing landing center, it was seen that many trawlers were staying at the jetty. Fuel oil, ice, nets and foodstuffs are being picked up in these trawlers. They hope to return to the ghat with the desired hilsa from the sea.
It is known that this year fishermen could not catch hilsa as expected due to the 65-day fishing ban imposed by the government and several episodes of hostile weather. Fishermen are forced to return to the shore when the weather worsens due to monsoon and low pressure. Earlier, thousands of coastal fishermen started fishing from July 24 after the 65-day ban at midnight on July 23. However, they were disappointed as they could not find the desired hilsa even in the full season. Fishermen on the coast have again crossed the deep sea with chest full of hope. The trawlers will return to the wharf in the next three to four days if they catch fish as expected. But if the fish is less, the trawlers will stay at sea less than 8 to 10 days.
Yunus Matubbar, the sailor of the FB Tamanna trawler of Matsyabandar Alipur, said, "I spent 10 consecutive days sitting at the ghat and spent idle time. Going to the sea today as the weather is favorable. Hopefully, a lot of hilsa fish will be caught in the net.
Another sailor named Eklas Gazi said that after 65 days of blockade, the sea was rough due to the influence of monsoon. Then there was low pressure in the sea due to low pressure again. Due to which I had to spend idle time sitting at the ghat. The weather has been fairly good since yesterday. So going to the sea. Hopefully, the desired hilsa will be caught in the net.
Shakhawat Fakir, the owner of the trawler, said that the desired hilsa fish could not be hunted throughout the season. Ahead is the 22-day siege of the month of Ashwin. Now if hilsa fish is caught, I can overcome the loss. If not, the entire season will have to suffer losses. Hopefully, I can catch good hilsa fish until the siege.
Kalapara Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said that fishermen were staying at the port due to adverse weather conditions. At present, as the weather is favorable, they are going to the sea again. Hopefully, they can overcome their poverty by hunting the desired hilsa.
