Jumbangla Desk:  Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, called on the leaders and activists to continue the movement until the elected political government is established. On the occasion of World Democracy Day, he made this call as the chief guest at the rally organized as part of the central program at Chittagong City's Almas Mor on Tuesday.

Salahuddin Ahmed said, We introduced the caretaker government in Bangladesh in 1996 under the leadership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, under the leadership of Khaleda Zia. By abolishing that caretaker government, Sheikh Hasina introduced a new dictatorship and fascist rule in Bangladesh. Through endless struggle, sacrifice, blood, labor and life, the people of Bangladesh have regained their freedom.

He also said that the people of Bangladesh have taken away democracy. But if you want to make sense of democracy, this new freedom, this victory, you have to be patient. Movement must be continued, national and international conspiracies must be countered. Until a political government is established through genuine democratic elections, parliament is not established, we will continue to protest on the streets.

In the speech of the special guest, BNP Vice Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury said that even after the past 17 years of torture, BNP could not be stopped. Even if you try for the next 17 years, you won't be able to.

The rally was organized by the Chittagong divisional BNP. After the rally, a procession passed through Kazi Deuri, Love Lane, Jubilee Road, Newmarket, Kotwali and ended at Laldighi Bank. BNP chairperson's advisor Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Zainul Abdin Farooq, Golam Akbar Khondkar, organizing secretary of BNP central committee and divisional procession coordinator Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, former organizing secretary Dr. Shahadat Hossain.
