Mirza Abbas also said, 'National leader Begum Khaleda Zia did not run away from the country. But Hasina fled to India leaving behind her leaders and activists. He said again that he will come immediately. But we will not imprison you as you imprison us, but only judge.'

He said these things while addressing a public meeting organized by BNP in Nayapaltan of the capital on the occasion of Democracy Day on Tuesday afternoon.

BNP National Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said that some famous leaders have been arrested for the past few days. I have gone to jail 34 times in the last 17 years. No matter how many courts I have been to, no one has ever been killed. I went to jail as a hero. But today these famous leaders of Awami League are getting arrested and beaten when they go to court.

Referring to Awami League's rule and BNP's rule, Mirza Abbas said, 'A wise person told me that there is a need for a third party in Bangladesh. I do not understand the meaning of this word, what do you mean by sitting in the chair of government. But I want to say, open as many political parties as you want, no problem. But it will not be accepted to open a third political party to sit in power for life or hold elections.'
