Jumba Bangla Desk: Jonaid Saki's political party 'Gana Sanhati' has received Election Commission (EC) registration. The EC registers them in view of judgments and orders in the High Court.

This information was given in the notification signed by Election Commission Secretary Shafiul Azim on Tuesday (September 17).

In the notification, the EC informed that in view of the judgment and order of the Hon'ble High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on Writ Petition No. 13805/2018 on April 11, 2019, as per the provisions of The Representation of the People Order, 1972 Chapter VIA, Head Office 306-307 Rose View Plaza, Mass Solidarity Andolan located at 185 Bir Uttam CR Dutt Road, Hatirpool, Dhaka 1205 is registered as a political party by the Election Commission of Bangladesh until further notice. The symbol 'Mathal' has been reserved for this team and its registration is No-053.


It is known that the Mass Solidarity Movement applied to the Election Commission on December 28, 2017 for registration as a political party. Since it was rejected by the EC, the chief coordinator for the mass solidarity movement. Jonaid Saki wrote a writ in the High Court. On April 11, 2019, the High Court ordered to register within 30 days. The Election Commission appealed against it. However, the commission changed its decision after the resignation of the Sheikh Hasina government in a student uprising.

It is known that the outgoing Habibul Awal Commission decided not to appeal before resigning on September 5. On September 10, the application filed by the Election Commission in the Appellate Division against the judgment of the High Court was withdrawn. On the same day, the secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat issued a public notice with a period of 6 days to see if anyone has any objections regarding the party. September 15 was his last time.
