The World Cup has been moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates. This year's T20 World Cup will be held on October 3. And the world governing body of cricket (ICC) has announced the prize money for this tournament. Where this is the first time in the history of international cricket that the same prize money is being awarded in the boys and girls tournament. ICC confirmed this information in a statement on Tuesday (September 17).

Women's T20 World Cup

This historic decision was taken at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2023. They set a target of equalizing prize money within seven years. But this year, equal prize money has been arranged in women's and men's World Cup events in cricket.

According to the decision, the World Cup winners will receive 23 lakh 40 thousand US dollars. The prize money has increased by 134 percent compared to the event held in South Africa last year ($1 million). The runners-up will receive 11 lakh 70 thousand dollars. Last time the amount was only 5 lakh dollars.


The two losing semi-finalists will receive $675,000. In all, a prize money of 79 lakh 58 thousand 80 dollars will be given in the World Cup in October. 225 percent increase from last year.

Teams will receive $31,154 for each win in the group stage. The six teams that failed to reach the semi-finals will pocket a total of $1350,000 according to their final standings.

The team that finishes third or fourth in the group will get $270,000. The fifth team of the group will receive 1 lakh 35 thousand dollars. All 10 teams will get at least 1 lakh and 12 thousand dollars.

In this tournament, a total of 10 teams will play in two groups of five. Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in Group 'A'. Group 'B' has Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa and West Indies.
