Sharjah Cricket Stadium

Despite being a relatively bowling-friendly pitch, Sharjah has always been a stadium very close to the cricketers. When cricket was in exile in Pakistan, this stadium in the UAE city of Sharjah was still a center of hope. The record of hosting the most international cricket matches is also recorded in the name of this stadium.

Meanwhile, this historic stadium will witness a new record today. Afghanistan and South Africa will meet in the first one-day match of the series in Sharjah at 6 pm Bangladesh time. With this match, the 250th ODI match will be played in this field. This ground already held the record for hosting the most matches in ODI cricket. Today's match will add a new dimension to it.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium was built in 1984 in Sharjah, the industrial city of the United Arab Emirates, considering the popularity of ODI cricket. The stadium quickly became popular with the expatriate visitors in the United Arab Emirates. Sharjah Stadium has hosted more matches than many centennial stadiums. This ground is the only stadium in the world to host 200 ODI matches

Harare Sports Club Stadium in Zimbabwe is next to Sharjah Stadium in terms of hosting ODI matches. So far 182 ODI matches have been played in that field. Three has the Sydney Cricket Ground. There have been 161 matches. Four are Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sri Lanka's Premadasa Stadium. 151 ODI matches have been played in both venues.

Apart from ODIs, this stadium hosted ICC Blind World Cup in 2018, T20 World Cup in 2021, ICC Intercontinental Cup in 2004. The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup, which was moved from Bangladesh due to political reasons, will also be held in this stadium. In 2010, the name of this stadium was also included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
