Farmers are in trouble due to fixing the price of chicken and eggs

Jumbangla Desk: Due to fixing the price of eggs and chickens, some people have prosperity, some people are doomed. Marginal farmers say, as a result of this decision, the foreheads of the importers will burn. Because the cost of production of eggs and chickens has increased due to the increase in the price of animal feed raw materials in the country. Therefore, the demand of feed price control to save the domestic entrepreneurs.
Last Sunday (September 15), the interim government fixed the price of eggs and chicken at the retail, wholesale and production levels. As per the fixed price, each egg will be sold at 11 taka 87 paise. And a kg of broiler chicken will be around 180 taka.
But the farmers will burn their foreheads with the fixed price, claiming that they are selling it for 135 taka even though it costs 150 taka to produce one kg of broiler. Similarly, although the cost of eggs is 11 and a half taka, they are selling them at 8 and a half taka.
A farmer named Sinha said the cost of production has increased from Tk 240 to Tk 245 per kg of golden chicken. In this situation, when we are going to sell Bajabe wholesale, we have to sell it at 180 to 190 taka. 50 to 60 taka per kg is being lost for this.
Another farmer said that one kilogram of broiler chicken costs 150 taka. But have to sell 135 Tk.
They also say that due to fixing the price of chicken and eggs, the importers have suffered. They demand to control the price of chicken feed raw material to protect the local farmers.
Mahbubur Rahman, president of Breeders Association of Bangladesh, said that even if it is imported from India, it is not possible to imagine how stable it will be. Because it is perishable and prone to breaking. Feed prices will come down only when raw material prices come down.
The Director General of the Department of Livestock denied the demands of the poultry industry entrepreneurs. He said, this price has been determined after talking to the leaders of the sector.
Director General of Livestock Department Mohammad Reazul Haque said, we have sat many times with the entrepreneurs. They have some claims and some that contradict the decision. But we will not sit still. The Department of Livestock is vocal.
The production of eggs is 4 crores per day and the production of chicken meat is 20 lakh tonnes per year.
