Jumbangla Desk: Shamim Ahmed aka Shamim Molla, former leader of the University Chhatra League, died in an attack by a group of students at Jahangirnagar University.
Doctors declared him brought dead on Wednesday night when he was taken to Gonoshasthaya Samajbaise Medical College Hospital in Savar.

Shamim Mollah was beaten and injured by a group of students in Jahangirnagar University campus on Wednesday afternoon. He was later handed over first to the University's Proctoral Body and later to the Police.
Shamim Mollah, the former organizing secretary of Jabi branch Chhatra League, lived in the area next to the university. On the night of July 15, he was beaten for his alleged involvement in the attack on protesting students at the residence of the Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University.
He is alleged to have been involved in the attack by Chhatra League and external terrorists on the students of the anti-discrimination student movement who were staying at the Vice-Chancellor's residence on the night of July 15.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar Siddique said, when he was rescued and taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. We are investigating the matter.
The students of Jahangirnagar University protested against the beating death of former student of Jahangirnagar University and former leader of Chhatra League Shamim Ahmed alias Shamim Molla as extrajudicial killing.
Students took out a protest march from Battala area of the university around 2 am on Wednesday. The procession went around the various roads of the university and ended in front of the present Vice-Chancellor's residence.
During the protest, students were seen chanting slogans like 'mob killing not accepted, manab na', 'extrajudicial killings, mani na manab', 'why killing in my campus, administration wants answer', 'death by mob justice, no justice after death' etc. .
In this regard, the student of the 47th batch of economics department of the university, Attiba Taapsee said, 'The incident that happened in our campus, a former leader of the Chhatra League was beaten up twice and as a result he died. We the students of Jahangirnagar University want to say clearly that we are against any extrajudicial killings. If someone commits a crime, he should be punished according to the state law, but the students of Jahangirnagar University do not support extrajudicial beating to death.'
