In the last two days, 223 metric tons of onions have been imported through Hili land port of Dinajpur. As a result, the prices of all types of onions are decreasing. 10 to 15 rupees reduced per kg.

Shahidul Islam, dealer of Hili wholesale market, said that currently, domestic onions are selling at Tk 100 per kg and Indian onions are selling at Tk 75 per kg, down by Tk 15.
Traders at the Hillisthal port say that the price of onion has started to fall due to the import of onion from India under the new tariff in the last two days. Between 50 and 60 rupees per kg onion will bring relief to common buyers.

Raihan Kabir, an onion seller in Hilli Bazaar, said that import of onions from India has started under the new tariff. As a result, the price is slightly reduced. We are currently selling domestic onion at the retail market at Tk 100 per kg and Indian onion at Tk 75 per kg. The number of buyers in the market is very less. This seller also said that if the import continues, the price of onion may decrease further.
Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi, president of Hili Land Port Import-Export Association, said that the Indian government has reduced the customs duty from 40 percent to 20 percent. Along with this, every metric ton of onion import has increased from 550 US dollars to 405 US dollars. By doing this, onion importers of the country will import more onion and the price will also decrease.
Hillisthal Port Customs Plant Department Assistant Officer Mohammad Yusuf Ali said that till Wednesday afternoon, 100 metric tons of onion in 4 Indian trucks and 123 metric tons on Tuesday, 223 metric tons of onions have been imported by traders through Hilli land port in the last two days. These import activities are ongoing every day. He assured that there will be.
