Jumbangla Desk: A third class government employee created a discussion in Manikganj by building a beautiful garden house with a two-storey building on 190 percent of the land. Name Abdul Barek. He is the office assistant of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office. He spent crores of rupees and built a garden house and named it 'Kanniker Neer'.

Garden house of crores of rupees

Abdul Barek has only three months left to retire from his job. His relatives and locals claim that Abdul Barek built the garden house with money earned illegally.

According to local and related sources, Abdul Barek is the son of Yachin Ali of Ukiara village of Sadar Upazila. As a child, he studied at an orphanage in Saturia upazila due to family quarrels between his parents. After his mother's separation from his father, a house was built for his mother on 18 percent of the land by Nana's family in Diara Gola village.

In 1988, Abdul Barek joined the Daulatpur Magistrate Court as a Certificate Assistant. After that, he worked in the office of various upazila executive officers, including the office of the District Commissioner of Manikganj. Currently, he is the office assistant of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office.

In Diara Gola village of Jagir Union of Sadar Upazila, the market value of that garden house with 1 acre of 90 percent land and facilities is at least Tk 10 crore. He also has assets of Rs. Locals demand justice through a proper investigation of the corruption of this third class employee.

It has been seen on the surface that Abdul Barek has built a beautiful garden house on 1 acre and 90 percent land in Diara Gola village of Jagir Union of Sadar Upazila. There are two-storied building, one-storied building, a tinned house with walls, two tin houses, playground, numerous connecting roads inside the house and various fruits, forest and wild flower trees with paved walls. The market value of the garden house including land and facilities is at least 10 crore taka.

In this regard, Abdul Barek's uncle Jalal Uddin said, 'I myself brought his mother from Barek's father's house along with three and a half bigha of land and built a tin house on 18 percent of the land in our area. Later Barek was educated in an orphanage in Saturia. After a few days, however, the three and a half bigha land was sold for 500 to 700 taka per bigha. Those barek batwaras have harassed us with cases. Now he is doing a huge garden house.'

Phulchan of Diara village said that when Barek came to our country, he had nothing except the house given by his uncle's house. After studying from the orphanage, he used to do a job in the DC office. By embezzling and corrupting people's wealth, he became the owner of more than 10 crore rupees. They are burning my houses, looting money along with cows and calves and sent me to jail 10 times by filing false cases in my name. I want a fair trial for Barek.'

Local Abdus Chatter said, 'Abdul Barek has built a mountain of wealth through various corruptions, including illegally grabbing land. He has paid millions of taka to educate his five daughters in Dhaka besides supporting the expenses of running the family with the salary of this job. What is the salary of this third class employee who grew up in an orphanage? How did he have a garden house of 10 crore rupees and wealth of more crores of rupees. Four percent of my land is forced to be fenced. The administration should conduct a proper investigation in this regard.'

Sharif of Diara Gola said, "Many corruptions have been committed under the umbrella of the administration while there are clerks in various upazilas of the district including the DC office. Taking bribes and illegally making huge plantations on 90 percent of 1 acre. Doubt whether there is such garden house in Manikganj district with our MP-minister. He embezzled 25,000 rupees for our four bigha land. Later we paid that loan with interest last year with 60 thousand taka, but the land was not returned to us. I want justice from the government.'

In this regard, Abdul Barek said, 'I worked honestly as an office assistant in the office of the executive officer in various upazilas, including the office of the District Commissioner of Manikganj. My asset statement has been submitted. The allegations made about me are not true.'

What the religious adviser said about reducing the cost of Hajj

Manikganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Liton Dhali said, 'Abdul Barek has recently joined us here. If there is a complaint in any office, they will be fully supported in their investigation work. With the salary of Mr. Barek, it is not possible to make wealth of 10 crore rupees. But many have family wealth. If any assets are made illegally, necessary action will be taken subject to investigation in view of the complaint.'-Dhakatimes
