Jumbangla Desk: The Chittagong Customs House Authority auctioned a luxury Mercedes Benz car made in Germany. The price of this auctioned car was 16 crore 10 lakh 89 thousand 136 taka. On the contrary, the highest price of the car has risen to four crore one lakh taka. Among the four bidders, Jamuna Shipbreakers fetched the highest price for this luxury car.

Apart from this, the Land Cruiser car priced at Tk 5 crore 17 lakh in the auction has fetched the highest price of Tk 2 crore 13 lakh. Among the 12 bidders, Harry Fashion Limited bid the highest price to get this car.
On Wednesday (September 18), 45 lots of goods including Mercedes Benz and Land Cruiser cars were placed in the auction organized by the Chittagong Custom House Authority.
According to the auction branch of Chittagong Custom House, various types of knitted, woven, non-woven, polyester, dyed, cotton, rayon, denim fabrics, ladies shoe soles, ceramic vases, kraft cartons, PVC sheets, parts of anti shoplifting systems, disodium are being auctioned. 46 lots of products including sulphate, old blankets, cloth, engine oil, tiles, security tags were kept. Meanwhile, the February lot was suspended before the end of the auction.
According to sources, the Mercedes Benz was imported in the name of a car marketing company in Baridhara, Dhaka. And the Land Cruiser was imported by late Member of Parliament Ali Ashraf. The former Member of Parliament of Comilla-7 Constituency passed away on July 30, 2021. The car was imported in duty free facility in the name of Ali Ashraf, who was serving as MP at that time, but it was not cleared after his death.
According to the sources, 45 lots of products taken in this year's auction are stored in 20 feet length 2 thousand 768 containers 44 thousand 288 tons, 40 feet length 3 thousand 170 containers 63 thousand 400 tons. Since the importers have not cleared the goods, the containers have been lying in different yards of Chittagong port for a long time.
Apart from this, 70 thousand 390 packages of LCL cargo weighing 3 thousand 390 tons and 6 thousand 846 packages of open (bulk) goods weighing 5 thousand 450 tons have been handed over to customs for auction, which may be picked up in the next auction.
Chittagong Custom House Deputy Commissioner Saidul Islam said, 'This time 27 bidders participated. In this auction, two luxury cars were the attraction of everyone. Apart from this we have auctioned 44 more products. We have spoken to the new commissioner sir to speed up the auction. If the goods are taken by the bidders, we will be able to increase the revenue collection and also empty the containers lying at the port.-Sarabangla
