Initiative taken to drill 100 gas wells: Energy Advisor

Jumbangla Desk: The interim government's power, energy and mineral resources advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan said that an initiative has been taken to dig 100 more wells in the country for gas extraction.

He said this while talking to reporters on Thursday (September 19) about the gas reserves situation in the country and the misinformation about gas discovery in Bhola.
Fawzul Kabir Khan said, henceforth no project will be accepted and tender will not be given without open competition. In these cases, expert committee advice will be taken. No irregularities will be allowed.
He also said that one billion dollar assistance is being sought from the Asian Development Bank to pay various bills including imported electricity bills. One billion dollar assistance will also be sought from the World Bank.
The adviser said that there is no decision on the rental power plant as the agreement is in force. The contract cannot be canceled at will. The expert committee is working on this. Action will be taken as per their recommendations.
Fawzul Kabir Khan said that the information about getting 5.1 tcf of gas in Bhola is not correct and said that 2 tcf of gas is stored there.
