Jumbangla Desk: The identity of the youth who was beaten up on suspicion of being a thief in Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of Dhaka University (DU) has been found. His name is Tofazzal Hossain. The house is in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district.

It is known that the deceased Tofazzal became unbalanced due to love affair. He was also the president of Kathaltali Union Chhatra League of Patharghata Upazila.

Arifuzzaman Al Imran, former central joint general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League and former student of law department of Dhaka University, claimed this in a status on Facebook on Thursday.

Sharing several photos of Tofazzal in his status, Imran wrote, 'This boy's name is Tofazzal. I was born in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district. Tofazzal is the president of Kathaltali Union Chhatra League of Patharghata Upazila. This boy was a very polite, philanthropic and student leader with leadership qualities. Being traumatized by a love affair in personal life causes some loss of emotional balance at first. Within a few days Tofajjal's mother, father and only elder brother died. Tofajjal family and Abivabhaka have become empty and completely lost their mental balance for the last 3/4 years. For the past 2/3 years, Tofazzal used to roam around Dhaka University campus often. Everyone who knew him in our area was supportive. Whenever he saw me in the campus, he used to run and exchange kushals. Whenever I met, I would ask him to eat or give money for food or he would ask for it sometimes. Apart from food and money, he didn't have any needs.

Maybe he went to FH Hall for food today too.

In that status, Arifuzzaman Al Imran also mentioned that after seeing the Facebook status, Imran called the person who gave the status and said that the person is from his area. Currently mentally unbalanced, may have gone in search of food so as not to be beaten. The person on the other end tells Imran that he will be beaten up.

Arifuzzaman Al Imran, former central joint general secretary of Chhatra League and former student of law department of Dhaka University, wrote in that status, I saw on Facebook that Tofazzal died due to brutal torture of students of FH Hall within 2 hours. Ah Dhaka University! An innocent life was lost today for these mindless ghouls named students, and Dhaka University was tarnished!

Mentioning that he will fight the legal process in the event of such a death, he wrote, there is no one left in his family to seek justice for Tofazzal's murder. However, if the rule of law is established in the country, I will personally fight the legal process to ensure justice for those involved in this murder.

Proctor of the university Saifuddin Ahmed said that they are trying to identify the culprits by looking at the CCTV footage of the incident. A case will be filed in the police station on behalf of the hall.
