Jumbangla Desk: Five Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have been identified in the video footage of Jahangirnagar University student Shamim Mollah's lynching. The five members of the Chhatra Dal seen in the video are- Saeed Hossain Bhuiyan, Raju Ahmed, Rajan Hasan, Hamidullah Salman and MN Sohag. Besides, another student named Atiq was seen in the video.

Sayeed Hossain Bhuiyan is a 33rd batch student and former general secretary of the university branch Chhatra Dal. Apart from this, Raju Ahmed is a 45th batch student of Government and Politics Department, Rajon Hasan is a 46th batch student of the same department, Hamidullah Salman is a 49th batch student of English and MN Sohag is a 47th batch student of Computer Science Engineering Department. All of them are involved in Chhatra Dal politics.

According to the security officials of the university, Shamim Molla was staying in the area adjacent to the Joy Bangla gate of the university on Wednesday afternoon. On hearing the news, a group of university students went there and arrested him and beat him up. In the video footage, Ahsan Labib, a student of the 49th batch of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department of the university, can be seen beating Shamim with a stick. Besides, Atiq, a student of the 49th batch of the management department, was seen kicking.

The university's proctorial team arrived at the spot after receiving the news of the mob thrashing. At one point, with the help of security personnel, Shamim was brought to the security wing of the university. There, the students involved in the politics of the Nationalist Chhatra Dal gave him another round of thrashing. From the video footage of the incident, five members of the Nationalist Student Party were initially identified. They are - Saeed Hossain Bhuiyan, Raju Ahmed, Rajan Hasan, Hamidullah Salman and MN Sohag.

Analysis of the video footage shows that Raju Ahmed is beating Shamim while wearing a check shirt inside the security office. At this time, a tree branch was seen in his hand. Apart from this, Rajan Hasan was seen wearing a half sleeve red shirt. Hamidullah Salman was seen wearing a half sleeve shirt and Sohag was seen wearing a white T-shirt and glasses.

According to eyewitnesses, Saeed Hossain Bhuiyan is beating Shamim while wearing jeans pants and shirt. However, they all denied the beating.

Shamim, who was killed in the lynching, is the son of Yaz Uddin Molla of Molla Bari, Kathgara area of ​​Ashulia police station in Savar. He was a former student of the history department of the university in the academic year 2009-10 (39 batch) and the former organizing secretary of the branch Chhatra League.
