Entertainment Desk: Dhaka University (DU) is one of the largest educational institutions in the country. A young man was killed in a mob thrashing at the institution's Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall on suspicion of being a thief. On Wednesday (September 18) at around 12 o'clock in the night, the young man was taken to the Dhaka Medical College (DMH) hospital with serious injuries and the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

It is known that the name of the deceased youth is Tofajjal. His house is in Kanthaltali Union of Patharghata Upazila of Barguna District. It is said that he was an orphan. I only think of their mothers. Yesterday (September 18) a mentally deranged young man named Tofazzal was beaten to death by some students of Dhaka University. I wonder what Tofazzal's mother would have done if she saw that?'

'I knew he had died before. But it could also be that he was standing 3 feet away from Tofajjal, he was feeling helpless seeing that he could not save his son! Maybe he was hoping to see the boy eating rice, that the boy will not be harmed and will survive this journey? Maybe even after seeing the level of torture, he was pleading to God that the boy should die, that the boy should not go through any more pain?'

He wrote, 'I also think about Abrar Fahad's mother. When Abrar was being beaten with a stamp, his mother would have suffered if he was there! I think about Biswajit's mother, what could she have done to save her son if she was in front of him when he was angry? I think of Chhatra League worker Paralym Masud who was killed in Rajshahi, when he could not get water even after asking for water, would his mother have run to fetch water for her son if he was there? Or did not go to fetch water for fear of killing his son if he moved? Or the death of Didar, the leader of the volunteer party in Gopalganj? If his mother had been around at that time, could she have saved the boy?'
