Due to the clash between Pahari and Bengalis in Dighinala of Khagrachari, there was a shooting incident in Khagrachari district headquarters on Thursday night. There is panic in the entire district including the headquarters. Three people were killed in night firing and afternoon clashes. At least 15 people were injured.

The deceased are Junan Chakma (20), Dhananjay Chakma (50) and Rubel Chakma (30). Meanwhile, the district administration has issued section 144 in Khagrachari town and district headquarters to prevent vandalism.

District Commissioner Md Sahiduzzaman confirmed the matter and said that the administration has taken this measure to prevent any kind of violence.

On Thursday night (around 10:30 PM) heavy gunfire was heard in Narankhkhaiya, Autonomous Area of ​​District Town. Panic spread throughout the area. Gunshots are heard till late at night.

On Friday (September 20), a clash took place in Rangamati over the Khagrachari incident. At least 50 people were injured on both sides involved in the incident. One person was killed. However, the name of the deceased is not known. Several cars were vandalized and shops were set on fire.

144 was issued in a public notification signed by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain Khan on Friday afternoon.


According to the public notice, the law and order situation in the municipal area of ​​Rangamati district has deteriorated and there is a danger of loss of life and property of the people. Therefore, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 has been issued in the municipal area of ​​Rangamati Hill District from 1 pm on Friday until further notice.

Legal action will be taken against those who disobey this order, it is mentioned in the public notice.

According to eyewitnesses, tribal students came to Banrupa area of ​​Rangamati town with a protest procession on Friday morning due to the Dighinala incident in Khagrachari.

During this time they attacked several cars and shops. When the Bengalis tried to resist after getting the news, there was a clash between the two sides.

Several shops were also set on fire in the clash. Later, the army personnel came and managed to bring the situation under control. However, the situation in the city is still at a standstill. Police and army patrols have been stepped up in the city.

On Thursday afternoon, a local market was set ablaze by a clash between 'paharis and Bengalis' at Dighinala in Khagrachari.

District Superintendent of Police Arifin Jewel said, there was Pahari-Bengali tension going on. From there, the clash started on Thursday. At that time, there was a chase between the two parties and the shop was set on fire.

Locals said that the students of Dighinala Degree College took out a protest march on Thursday afternoon to protest the killing of a young man named Mamun in 'mass thrashing' on the charge of theft on Wednesday morning.

Clashes broke out at one stage of the protest march. Later, one party set fire to the shop in Lerma Square. The victims claimed that 60 to 70 shops were burnt.
