People throng Tofazzal's funeral at Barguna's Patharghata, demanding exemplary punishment

Jumbangla Desk: Masud Kamal Tofazzal was laid to rest next to the graves of his parents and brother after the funeral at Barguna's Patharghata. He was buried at the family graveyard in Barguna Patharghata taluk village on Friday (September 20) morning.

Earlier, his funeral was held at the local madrasa ground around nine in the morning. Tofazzal's funeral was attended by people. At the end of the funeral, they made a human chain and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in this brutal murder.

Last Wednesday, Tofajzel was beaten up several times on suspicion of being a thief in Dhaka University's (DU) Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall. Later, when he was taken to the Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) in a coma, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

The Dhaka University administration has filed a case at Shahbag police station in this incident. Mohammad Amanullah, supervisor of the university's estate office, filed the complaint at the Shahbag police station on behalf of the university.

Shahbagh Thana police interrogated six students arrested in an incident overnight.

The six arrested students are Jalal Ahmed, a student of the 2018-19 session of the Department of Physical Sciences, Mohammad Sumon, a student of the 2020-21 session of the Department of Soil Water and Environment, Muttakin Sakin, a student of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, Al Hossain Sajjad of the Department of Geography and Environment, Ahsan Ullah of the Department of Mathematics.
