Kazipara station is opening, metro train will run from afternoon

Jumbangla Desk: From now on, the Metrorail, one of the additions to Dhaka's public transport system, will run on Fridays as well. However, passenger transport will start from 3 pm on Friday. It will last till 9:40 PM.

Meanwhile, the Kazipara station will open today as the repairs are over.
Abdur Rauf, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited - DMTCL, gave this information in a press conference on Thursday (September 19) at noon.
There was a long-standing demand to run the metro even on Fridays, a weekend holiday, to get rid of the traffic jams. The city dwellers have felt that regret, this time the metro rail will run on Friday as well.
Abdur Rauf said that metro movement will start every Friday from 3 pm. Trains will run every 12 minutes till 9:40 PM.
The managing director of DMTCL also said that the period of metro rail movement will be extended in view of the demand.

Earlier, the then Awami League government said that it would take a year to open Kazipara and Mirpur-10 stations, which were damaged during the student movement, and would cost hundreds of crores of taka. But after just two months, the Kazipara Metro Station is being commissioned from Friday, for which the initial expenditure was only Tk 20 lakh 50 thousand.
