Jumbangla Desk: Two parties clashed over the money deposited in the donation box of Baniachang Mosque in Habiganj. Also, more than half a hundred people were injured in this incident. The incident took place in Majlishpur village of Baniachang upazila after Friday prayers.

 

Locals said that after Friday prayers, the former president of Majlishpur Jame Masjid, Anwar Mia, went to collect money from the donation box and was stopped by the worshipers of member Mansoor Mia's side. A scuffle took place between the two parties inside the mosque. Later both sides got involved in a bloody clash with native weapons, tenta, ballam, ramda and bricks. At least half a hundred people from both sides were injured in the clash that lasted for about an hour and a half. Later, the situation calmed down with the efforts of the army and police. At present there is a situation of stagnation in the area.


The injured are Shamim Mia (42) son of deceased Anfar Ulla of Majlishpur village, Rashed Mia (30) son of Hiran Mia of the same village, Enamul Mia (30) son of Rafiq Mia, Dalim Mia (25) son of Rashid Mia, Saju Mia (25) son of Rahman Ulla. 35), Abdul Hamid (50), Mughal Ullah's son Zubed Mia (65), Zubed Mia's son Manchur Mia (35), Lal Mia's son Ziyaur Mia (34), Bachchu Mia (50), Shabekdar Mia's son Rakat Mia (18) , Ali Amjad Mia's son Akibur Mia (20), Lal Mia's son Azad Mia (22), Jaher Ali's son Ashkir Mia (30) and many others. All of them are being treated at Habiganj District Sadar Hospital, Baniachong Upazila Health Complex and local pharmacy.

Residents said that there has been a dispute over the leadership in Majlishpur village for a long time. It has been settled in arbitration several times.

In this regard, Baniachong Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam said that a clash broke out between the two parties when they had an argument with the Motawalli in the mosque. Later, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. At present the situation is calm.
