Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Stines (43) was arrested in connection with the judge's murder. The police said that he was shot during an argument with the judge in court on Thursday (September 19). However, the police could not immediately find the reason behind this.

The judge was shot and killed multiple times at a courthouse in Whitesburg, Kentucky, around 2 p.m. local time on Thursday, officials said. Which is located 240 km from Lexington.

State Attorney General Russell Coleman told the X Post that the incident will be investigated and justice will be done. "This is the most reprehensible incident in the world," a Kentucky state judge said in a social media post about the killing. I pray that the coming days will be good.'

Kentucky State Police spokesman Matt Gehart told The Washington Post that about 50 employees were in the courthouse when the judge was shot. No one else was injured in the incident. A school at that location was closed soon after the incident.
