Jumbangla Desk: Disputes and clashes have occurred over who will lead the Friday prayers at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque of Bangladesh. The clash took place on Friday (September 20) before Friday prayers. Vandalism was also carried out inside the mosque.

In the past, tense situations were seen in the premises of Baitul Mukarram due to political reasons, but such incidents of vandalism and attacks inside the mosque are unprecedented.

The video of the incident went viral on social media. Such incidents within the mosque have also given rise to widespread criticism. The khatib and the responsible imam are blaming each other for this incident.
It is known that many people come from far and wide to offer Friday prayers at Baitul Mukarram Mosque.

Usually the Khatib of the mosque leads the Friday prayers. However, since Khatib Mohammad Ruhul Amin of Baitul Mukarram was absent since last July, that duty was performed by other officials.

According to many media reports of the country, Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram went into hiding after the fall of the government. However, Ruhul Amin said that he was sick this time.

After about two months, he came to the mosque on Friday.
Md. had already been given the responsibility for the imam of Friday prayers. Abu Saleh Patwari. Some Muslims including Abu Saleh Patwari went to the Khatib's room and asked Ruhul Amin to refrain from leading the Friday prayers.

In this regard, Abu Saleh Patwari said, "the request has been made considering the situation". Ruhul Amin, on the other hand, says that he has been 'prevented from fulfilling his responsibilities'.

After that, he went and stood in the sermon. Abu Saleh Patwari. After some time Ruhul Amin came there. Arguments arose among the worshipers who were with them over taking positions in the mimbar (standing place of the imam). It is known from each other's complaint that there were several followers with both of them. The present worshipers were also divided into two groups.

Abu Saleh Patwari said, 'I started the sermon. He (Ruhul Amin) came with a force and stood on the pulpit. Someone asked me to move. I stand aside.' On the other hand, Ruhul Amin said, 'People with him (Patwari) were making noise. The devotees protect me. I start speaking. Meanwhile, he (Patwari) said to me, "You come down."

However, Abu Saleh Patwari says, considering Khatib's safety and the situation that arose, he asked him to leave. At one point Mohammad Ruhul Amin left the place as the situation was no longer safe. Khatib Ruhul Amin left the scene, but by then the conflict spread between the two sides.

Abu Saleh Patwari said, 'His (Ruhul Amin) men were standing at the entrances of the mosque. They beat the common worshippers.' However, Ruhul Amin's counter-complaint was that the people who were with Patwari made a commotion.

Some videos of the clash have spread on social media. In all those videos, it can be seen that the worshipers are throwing shoes from the shoe box. The doors and windows of the mosque were also vandalized. In the video, a section of worshipers can be heard shouting anti-Awami League slogans. Mike was also calling for the sanctity of the mosque. Later, the situation calmed down when the law and order forces took a stand.

It is also known that several people were injured in this incident. Both Khatibs said that they will inform the authorities about the incident and seek a fair solution. Source: BBC Bangla
