Organized mass weddings in DU, which is what the university administration says

Jumbangla Desk: The administration of Dhaka University (DU) has said that the organization of mass wedding by the students of Martyred Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall is their personal initiative. Even the authorities did not approve their initiative and the university administration requested the students not to do so.

This information was informed in a statement signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of Public Relations Department of the University on Monday night.

It is said that recently, a news related to mass marriage in different halls of Dhaka University has been circulated on social media Facebook and some media, which has come to our attention. No authorization was given by the authorities nor was anyone officially notified to organize such mass marriages.

The statement also said, considering the prevailing norms of the university and the current overall situation, the university has no opportunity to have any kind of association with such social events. It is the sole initiative of the student(s) who undertakes this initiative.

According to the university administration, Dhaka University is an educational institution and a place for learning. Therefore, I request all concerned to refrain from such arrangements, receptions or spreading rumors at any stage of the university.
