Jumbangla Desk: After the funeral of Tofazzal, who was killed in the barbaric massacre in DU, he was buried in the family graveyard at Barguna's Patharghata. He was laid to rest next to the graves of his parents and brother.
His funeral was held on Friday (September 20) at 9 am at the local madrasa grounds. At this time, the grief-stricken residents demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the murder.
In a speech before Tofazzal's funeral prayer, the local imam said, 'You have been educated but have not become human.'
A video of this speech has gone viral on social media.
The Imam said, 'Cruel irony of fate, father died, mother also died. It is a great surprise to me that I read the funeral of his mother and father. But I didn't understand that I have to perform the funeral of Tofajjal. I thought Tofajjal would attend my funeral.'
Referring to Dhaka University, he said, 'Dhaka University is a craftsman of making people. My elder brother also studied in Dhaka University. I have been to Dhaka University a lot. I feel so miserable about myself for going. Exactly how torturing a boy can make his legs fall off, how can he be bloody. I think you are educated but not human.'
'I remember one time his father went away. They always lived a miserable life. He used to visit our house again and again. It seems there is no peace in Tofazzal's life,' he added.
Locals say Tofazzal was a very humorous person. We never saw him misbehaving with anyone. Although mentally unbalanced, he used to talk to everyone with a smile. We cannot accept this death in any way. I can't even imagine that such a brutal incident will happen in one of the highest universities of our country. Even though he did not steal, even if he did, there is a law for it. It is unacceptable that a life should go like this for a few rupees mobile phone.
Locals also said that the deceased Tofazzal was traumatized in love affairs and became mentally unbalanced. In this situation, Tofajjal's mother, father and only elder brother died within a few days, police sub-inspector. Due to which Tofazzal wandered the streets without family and guardian. Tofazzal was very kind, philanthropic and leader.
They said that for the past 2 to 3 years, Tofazzal used to roam around the Dhaka University campus. Everyone who knew him in the area cooperated. Whenever he saw someone he knew on campus, he would run and exchange greetings. Acquaintances used to buy food or give money for food if they saw him. Tofazzal sometimes asked for money. Apart from food and money, he had no need.
Latifa Begum, Tofazzle's sister-in-law said, first on Wednesday (September 18) at 10:02 PM, I was called by Tofazzel from the number 01310790372, saying Tofazzel, the students of the university caught me beating me, asking for money for talking so much. Then he called 01743745426 at 10:28 and asked for a ransom of 2 lakh taka.
Latifa Begum said, last night I asked for money but I could not pay it and beat and killed my brother brutally. My husband is dead, father is gone, we have no man. Currently suffering from insecurity with my two children and mother.
Meanwhile, Tofajzel's uncle Abdur Rab said that he also asked for 35 thousand taka on Wednesday night. If he doesn't pay, he will kill Tofajzel. Hearing this news, my daughter Tanya is in Dhaka and discussed the matter with her. Later on Thursday morning I got news that Tofajzel was killed. My daughter went to Dhaka Medical after hearing the news.
Tofazzal's school teacher Milan Mia said that since school life, Tofazzal was very talented and calm. He always respected teachers and elders. We demand exemplary punishment for the killers.
Tofazzal's cousin Tanya said, I want justice for my brother's murder. They deliberately killed my brother and accused me of stealing the mobile phone to avoid the blame. Proper investigation will reveal the real secret.

At that time, suddenly a young man named Tofajjal entered the hall, the students took him to the guest room of the main building and started beating him and interrogated him on the suspicion of being the thief of six mobile phone theft cases in the afternoon. At one point, he was taken to the hall canteen and fed. After that, a group of students took them to the guest room of the extension building and beat them on the chest, back, hands and legs in the second round. As a result of the beating, blood started to flow from the legs of the victim. After that, around 10:30 pm, he was again taken to the guest room of the main building and beaten.
