Jumbangla Desk: The government has decided to export 3 thousand tons of hilsa to India on the occasion of Durga Puja. An instruction has been issued in this regard from the Ministry of Commerce.

A circular was issued on Saturday (September 21) by the Export-II Wing of the Ministry of Commerce. It is said that the Ministry of Commerce has approved the export of 3000 tons of hilsa fish to India on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja. Exporters are allowed to export hilsa subject to fulfillment of prescribed conditions against the application of the exporters.

The concerned applicant is requested to apply with necessary documents to the Ministry of Commerce (Deputy Secretary, Export-2 Branch, Room No. 127, Building No. 3, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Secretariat) on 24 September 2024 by 12 noon. It has been informed that those who have already applied do not need to apply again.


Recently, it has been hinted by Bangladesh that Hilsa will not be offered during Durga Puja this time. In such a situation, a letter has been sent to Bangladesh requesting to send hilsa from India, Indian newspaper reported.
