This station is Atari Shyam Singh. A passport-visa is required to go to this railway station in Punjab. Because this station is located right next to India-Pakistan border. It is the last station in India on the Amritsar-Lahore line.

Earlier, when the Samjhota Express train was running between India and Pakistan, the train started from this Attari station in Punjab. Indian passport and visa had to be shown before boarding the train from Attari station. Similarly, when the train was coming from neighboring countries, passengers' passports and visas were checked whether they were valid or not. But due to diplomatic tension between the two countries, the train service was stopped.
