Jumbangla Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir considered the clash in Chittagong Hill Tracts to be a process of destabilizing the interim government. He said that many people are taking advantage of the incident in Chittagong Hill Tracts. He does not consider this to be an isolated incident.

He said this at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir suggested curfew in the conflict situation in Chittagong Hill Tracts. He also spoke to 'those he knows' about the matter. He is disappointed that the administration did not follow that 'suggestion' and gave Section 144. He said, the delay in paying the curfew is causing damage.

Fakhrul said, Deepen Dewan, who was the president of our party (Rangamati BNP branch), who was an MP candidate earlier, called me and said, 'Sir, ask me to impose curfew immediately, it cannot be controlled without curfew.'

He said, I have informed the people I know about this matter, later there was no curfew. Section 144 has been tried. They could not control effectively. In between it (conflict) spread. This delay is a matter of loss.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir thinks that the parliament elected by the people is better for the radical change of the constitution or the new constitution. He said, for the initiative taken by the interim government to reform the constitution, a revolutionary government should have been formed. That didn't happen.

In response to a question about radical changes in the constitution, BNP secretary general said, "Nothing is impossible, but the matter is difficult." Explaining this, he said, 'This government (interim government) should have made a revolutionary government. Not taking an oath under this Constitution. That didn't happen. He took oath under the constitution. Then that thing (the present constitution) should be kept in front and should be (amended) in that way. We are taking the initiative from the party ourselves, we have started the work of what can be changed in the constitution.'

In this context, Mirza Fakhrul said, referring to the committee formed to reform the constitution of the interim government, those who have been given the responsibility are undoubtedly very high-quality experts. They will do very well. But people's wishes must be taken with it.

Fakhrul Islam also said that the interim government has come on the basis of negotiations. Dr. as the head of the government. Muhammad Yunus has been given the responsibility. The structure of this government, those who came in it, are mostly technocrats, bureaucrats, academicians. Two student leaders, some NGO officials. The weakness here is that there is no political face. It could have been reduced by regular discussions with political parties. It is probably not being done more, less is being (discussed). It has political weakness.

BNP General Secretary said, after such a change in our country (which happens in everything), there is a problem in the government. Problems arise between stockholders. Opportunity seekers want to take chances. Bangladeshi culture has it. The lobbying increased a lot. Everyone then wants to go to the new government. As a result, if we expect the government to run quickly and properly, it will not be right.

Mirza Fakhrul said, it has not been possible to install neutral or pro-change people in all places. Fascist government people remain. They (the government) are ignorant about this. As their discussions with political parties are decreasing, there is a distance. As a result, there is a problem in this place. So the incidents happening after August 5 are not isolated.

He said that the Awami League government has made an agreement with them. But it didn't solve the problem. Adivasis' rights must be guaranteed. Besides, the incidents that are happening in Dhaka University are not isolated incidents either. The problem is not being able to make a decision at the earliest. There is no solution to stop politics in the university. However, he said that the politics of laziness should be stopped.

In view of the violent situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, what is BNP's advice - Fakhrul said, our advice is to talk to regular political parties, especially the main political parties.
