5 people died due to lightning in Sylhet

A woman died due to lightning in SreepurJumbangla Desk: 5 people died due to lightning in three upazilas of Sylhet. They died due to sudden lightning strike in afternoon and afternoon at Kanaighat, Goainghat and Jaintapur in Sylhet on Saturday.

It is reported that two people died in a separate lightning incident in Jaintapur upazila around noon. They are Nahid Ahmad (16) son of Nurul Haque of Jaintapur Union village and Abdul Mannan (45) son of Kala Mia of Vitrikhel Babarband village of the same union. Nahid was standing near the house while Abdul Mannan was working in the field when the lightning struck.

Tajul Islam, OC of Jaintapur Model Police Station, said that the police went to the spot and made a condition report on the bodies of the two.

On the other hand, two people died due to lightning in Kanighat upazila. One of them is Abdul Mia's son Kala Mia (28). The other person who died was a resident of Kanighat municipality. His name is Noor Uddin (60) and he is the son of Tota Mia of that area. Both the deceased were working outside the house.

On the same day, Ruksana Begum (47), wife of Razzak Mia of Goainghat, died due to lightning.

Kanighat police station OC Jahangir Hossain Sardar confirmed the death of two people due to lightning.
