As a result, these roads become in poor condition. After the fall of the Awami League government, municipal mayor Zillur Rahman went into hiding, although the road and drainage system renovation work started in the entire city last year.

Zubair Alam, a resident of the new market area of the city, said that the important road of the city is from the bus stand to the oath square. The work of this road has started after a long time. However, the materials used in the construction work are of very low quality. My demand is that the construction of this road should be done in accordance with the standards.
Meanwhile, the road construction work started two weeks ago from Puran Bazar Loharpool to the shophouse. However, due to continuous rain, that work has been disrupted a lot. It was observed that low quality materials were used for the road work in rain. Most of the Mekad went away with the water.
On the other hand, another important road of Chandpur Municipality is New Truck Road. Its renovation work started a year ago. But due to road widening and new unplanned construction of drains, the work stopped. As a result, this road is now impassable. Residents and drivers of this road are suffering regularly.
Local resident Nurun Nabi said that the condition of some roads in the city is bad. The condition of New Truckroad is especially worse. Although this road has been repaired several times, it returns to its original condition within a year. Due to the bad condition of this road, vehicles from other places do not want to come. Hopefully the quality of work will be maintained this year.
Chandpur Municipality Executive Engineer AHM Shamsuddoha said that road work is ongoing from the last boundary of Taltala road section of the city to Ghoshpara. The cost has been estimated at 1 crore 20 lakhs. And truck road work was decided only for carpeting. But already several parts have been damaged by heavy rains. That work will be done with the municipality's own funding. The work of this road will start very soon.
He said about the use of low-quality materials in the work, he refused to believe that low-quality materials were being used in the work. We are working on our own by going to the kiln and purchasing the bricks and testing them in the lab. If the quality of this work is not correct, the authority will not bill. And carpeting work cannot be done during rainy season. That is why the carpeting work will start from next November.
Chandpur Municipal Administrator and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ekramul Siddique said, since I took charge, the road work has started from the city's Karim Patwari road and shops to Loharpool. The work of Comilla Road has started and Mecadam is in progress. Carpeting will start after a month. Truck road work will start in 10 to 15 days. Besides, some roads in the city have potholes. Construction materials have been procured for them and renovation work will proceed in phases.

He also said that every construction material for these works has been purchased honestly. I am supervising the works along with the engineer so that the quality of the work is good. Even then more precautions will be taken in the work.
