International Desk: At least 19 people were killed in a gas explosion in a coal mine in South Khorasan province of Iran. Also, 17 more people were injured in this incident.

The news was reported by Saudi Arabia's Al-Arabia media citing Iran's state TV.

Iran's state TV reported on Sunday (September 22) that 30 workers were still trapped in the mine.

Rashtriya TV also reported that the accident occurred due to methane gas explosion in the B and C blocks of the mine operated by Madanju Company. The total number of workers in the block was 69 at the time of the blast.
