He said these things in the secretariat on Sunday.

Farida Akhtar said that the Ministry of Fish and Livestock is against the export of hilsa. There are many hilsa in the country. Last time also India took less hilsa. It is not true that the price of hilsa will suddenly increase. Action will be taken if prices increase due to export news.

The Ministry of Commerce independently gave it (export approval), the adviser said. They gave this approval in view of a request. India had a special request on the occasion of Durga Puja. They did accordingly.

Stating that it is not the job of the Fisheries and Livestock Advisor to stop exports, he said, "I am not empowered to overturn the decision to stop exports." Besides, Hilsa is not related to fish worship. This is known from the followers of Hindu religion.

He also said that hilsa extraction will be closed from October 13 to November 3 to increase the breeding and production of hilsa. Due to lack of dredging and pollution in the river, the mother hilsa cannot come from the sea to the river to lay eggs. Therefore, this decision has been taken to prevent breeding of hilsa.
