Samsoo Kim, trade representative of the Korean Embassy and Edward Kim, chief executive of AKT Group, expressed their interest during a meeting with Advisor Nahid Islam in the office room of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on Sunday (September 22).

Samsu Kim said, Korea is interested in working jointly with Bangladesh in Bangladesh's online national tax system, e-customs clearing system, national land information system, e-tax system.

Nahid Islam said that the youth of Bangladesh are interested in information technology, so training will be arranged to make them proficient in information technology. The advisor also commented that it is necessary to create many workplaces to develop the digital economy of Bangladesh.


When a group chief executive Edward Kim expressed interest in investing in A2I, the adviser said A2I is currently funded by UNDP. In December of this year, the contract of UNDP with ATUI will end, and Edward asked Kim to discuss with ATUI. In addition, the advisor suggested discussion with the hi-tech park authorities regarding the construction of Janata Tower.

Samsu Kim said, Bangladesh has an experienced manpower in IT, but there is a shortage of IT engineers. In this case, they are interested in training Bangladeshi youth to become IT engineers. Apart from this he informed the advisor about the National Information Project.

In response, the advisor said, National Information Project will be an important step for all of us. As it is a matter of national policy. So whether we accept this policy from the government will be decided after discussion with the stakeholders.

The talks concluded with an assurance of mutual cooperation on bilateral issues.
