This information is known from the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (September 22).

It is said that the number of banks which did not receive any remittance on the 21st day of September is 7. These include a state-owned bank, a specialized bank, 2 private banks and 3 foreign banks.

In the first three weeks of September, no remittances came to the state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized sector Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank or Rakab and the private sector Community Bank Bangladesh PLC and ICB Islami Bank.

Apart from this, no remittance has come to the foreign sector National Bank of Pakistan, State Bank of India and Habib Bank.


Meanwhile, in the first three weeks of September, 48.7 million 50 thousand US dollars came through state-owned banks. Besides, 6 crore 98 lakh 30 thousand dollars have come through specialized banks, 107 crore 96 lakh 10 thousand dollars through private banks and 4 million 30 thousand dollars through foreign sector banks.

Bangladesh Bank also said that between September 15 and 21, remittances of 46.7 million 30 thousand dollars have arrived in the country. Between September 8 and 14, remittances to the country reached 582.6 million 60 thousand dollars. And in the first week of September, expatriates sent home 58 million 45 million 40 thousand dollars.

Earlier, after remittances of $253.86 million in June last year, remittances in the first month of the current financial year came in at around $191 million, which was the lowest in the last 10 months.

However, after the formation of the interim government, the situation started to normalize. As a result of this, expatriates sent the highest remittance of 222 crore 13 lakh 20 thousand US dollars in the current financial year last August.
