Jumbangla Desk: The court re-arrested former law minister Anisul Haque in a murder case of Khilgaon police station in the capital and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in two separate murder cases of Uttara Paschim and Khilgaon police stations.

The police brought them to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court from the jail at around 8 o'clock this Monday morning.


After that, the investigating officer of the case requested to show their arrest. After the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury granted the application to show their arrest.

Former Law Minister Anisul Haque was arrested from the capital's Sadarghat area on the basis of secret information while fleeing by sea on August 13. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid granted his ten-day remand on August 14 in the case of the murder of shop employee Shahjahan Ali (24) in Newmarket area.


After remand on August 24, the police produced them in the court. After that, the police applied to remand him for 10 days and 20 days in two separate cases of Newmarket police station. After the hearing, the judge granted five days and ten days remand in two cases. On September 19, the court granted his five-day remand in the capital's Kotwali police station's Foreign Exchange Act case.


On the night of September 3, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was arrested by the DB police. The next day, September 4, around 6:30 am, he was produced in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. During the anti-discrimination quota movement, the investigating officers applied to remand him for 10 days for proper investigation of the murder case of grocery shopkeeper Abu Sayed in Mohammadpur. On the other hand, his lawyer requested to cancel the remand and applied for bail.


After the hearing of both parties, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman rejected his bail application and granted an eight-day remand.
