New decision on half rent for students

Jumbangla Desk: Dhaka Transport Owners Association has taken a new decision on half fare for students in public transport in all metropolitan areas of the country including the capital Dhaka. According to the decision, students will get half pass facility in public transport even on weekends.

He said that the language movement of 1952, independence of 1971 and the downfall of the dictatorial government in 2024 were done by the hands of the students. The country became independent for the second time. Students have been demanding for a long time that 50 percent discount on bus fare should be given 7 days a week. 'Half fare' will be effective from September 24, 7 days a week.

He further said that from today, students will be able to take half pass facility subject to showing uniform or photo ID. Students can avail this half pass facility on seven days including weekends.

Md. Saiful Alam said, it has been decided to cancel the previous time limit (8 am to 8 pm) and provide this facility from 6 am to 12 pm. This decision will be effective on all routes and city buses in Dhaka metropolitan area.

The seminar was chaired by the president of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, MA Baten, senior officers of police traffic department and transport owners-workers.
